A Louis XV style, ormolu-mounted,
tulipwood and rosewood parquetry commode, mid-19th century, circa 1840,
the serpentine-fronted veined rouge royal marble top above 2 drawers,
raised on cabriole legs headed by pierced foliate ormolu chutes and
ending in pierced ormolu sabots; the drawers veneered with panels
of tulipwood on grounds of kingwood, with a banding of fillets in
charmwood and boxwood, with foliate-cast ormolu handles, keyhole
escutcheons and an ormolu mount. |
